Congratulations go to 791 Nicky Young who after many close calls landed the biggest trophy in the Entertainer’s League following a fantastic year for Nicky which had seen him race a variety of top tin, all of it presented superbly and used fantastically on track. 119 Davey Cox became the first driver to hold both the Gold and Silver Roofs in the same year after winning a nailbiting National Points Championship which went right down to the last meeting of the season having enjoyed a great battle with 349 Michael Allard. 425 Martin Stopher had enjoyed a great year with Trackstar since moving from RDC and won the White & Yellow Points Series.

Following presentation of the above awards, presentations were then made in a variety of categories which saw registered drivers and officials being invited to vote for drivers who they thought were the top performers.

First up was the newcomer of the year and despite not being old enough to race until July, 16 year old 391 Ben Gibson had certainly impressed in his performances since he had moved over and he deservedly won the Newcomer of the Year award polling 38.5% of the vote. In second place was 99 Ricky Garrod who polled 30.8% whilst 88 Lyndon Stark polled 23.1% whilst 50 Simon West polled 7.6%

Ben Gibson - Newcomer of the Year

3 Danielle Hewitt has been in great form since racing the 1500cc Bangers with several race wins and great performances seeing her zoom up the grades and also qualify for the National Championship on the third row. This success had obviously caught the eyes of her fellow stars as she won the most improved driver of the year award polling 33.3% of the votes. 390 David Gibson came second with 26.7% of the vote whilst 425 Martin Stopher polled 20% and the remaining 20% of the vote was split between 285 Sean Dyer and 897 Matt Battle.

Things got back on track for the Mad Hatters in the Team of the Year Vote when they were recognised for having given some superb on track performances this year and they polled 41.7% of the vote for Trackstar’s Team of the Year. WMS Recruitment came second with 25% of the vote whilst the Bears polled 18.3% and the Mr Men 15%.

Mad Hatters - Trackstar Team of the Year

The last award for the night was the Driver’s Driver of the Year and whilst officials were allowed to vote in the other categories, only drivers were allowed to vote in this category. Whilst not able to attend the night there is little denying that 349 Michael Allard has had a fantastic season and he polled 55.6% of the vote to clinch a convincing win. 119 Davey Cox was second with 23.2% of the vote whilst 791 Nicky Young, 317 Nick Wakeham and 385 Roy Gedge shared the remaining 21.2%.

Congratulations go to all those drivers who picked up awards and don’t forget that registered drivers can still vote for awards in the Lady Bangers, 2L Stock Cars and 1300 Stock Cars.
