As the countdown to the Unlimited Banger Icebreaker continues we took the opportunity to catch up with rated Team Black Pilot 998 Wayne Cottrill Jnr - Below is an extract from an interview made with Wayne with the full interview appearing in Sunday's programme.

998 WAYNE COTTRILL - Looking forward to being involved in the thick of the action on Sunday

How do you feel about coming back to do the Icebreaker after being so successful at meetings in the past with Team Black?

WC: Yes we have done well in the past as a team at the Icebreaker. It’s about time we got back to Lynn and we are ready for it as it should be a good meeting.

Many are billing it as a showdown between Team Black and your bitter rivals the Condoms, where did the rivalry start?

WC: Well the rivalry has been going on for a good few years now and I don’t think it will be stopping anytime soon. It makes it good for us as we have something to aim for and it is a huge rivalry for us.

So it could be a massive crashfest as the Preds and DWO will also be there?

WC: Yes well the condoms will be our main priority and then we will concentrate on others if the opportunity comes up. I suppose the Predators will be going for us as we don’t get on with them.

Have you got a plan for Sunday?

WC: We never have a plan because Banger Racing is too unpredictable to do that but we will just see how it goes on the day and take it from there.

You also have a rivalry with the Predators - is there a score to settle there?

WC: No I don’t think so! We have never got on but they don’t really do the big meetings like us anymore so we don’t get a chance often to have a crash with them but when they are there and we are there then yes we have a crash with them.

So with all the warring that will be going on, the fans can expect a great spectacle and a good show from Team Black?

WC: Yes definitely. As long as the weather holds up the action will be good. It seems like everyone is talking about this meeting a hell of a lot this year which is good when you have so many big teams and especially when there is a big rivalry involved as well so the fans can expect a good meeting for sure.

How good was it to make your comeback at Nutcracker?

WC: Yes it was good to be back as I’m a local boy and live literally down the road. It was nice to be back it was a good feeling. The meeting wasn’t great because a few drivers who said they were going to turn up didn’t so it wasn’t that spectacular but we still had fun and had a good race round so yes I enjoyed it.

If you had a message for the Condoms and the other teams ahead of the day what would it be?

WC: Hold tight, talk is cheap!

TOMORROW WE HEAR FROM 1500c ICEBREAKER CHAMPION D W O CAPTAIN 190 PIKEY!!
