Big Entry for King of the Fens
2009-10-07 11:11
Another great night of Stock Car and Banger Racing is on the horizon at the Norfolk Arena this Saturday 10th October when the Unlimited and 2L Bangers both play host to their King of the Fens Meeting whilst the young talent which currently abounds in Big Banger Racing will also be showcased in the 25 & Under Championship of Great Britain.
It promises to be a great night of action from the unlimited Bangers with around 60 cars booked to race as of Tuesday night - and with a few regular names missing, that list could well increase come meeting time on Saturday.
For many drivers in action, the highlight will be the 25 and Under Championship of great Britain which is almost completly fully booked. The best of the north's Young talent will be represented by the leading young guns from the Common Crushers, Wild Boys and Team Stinkbridge all booked in for action.
The midlands see plenty of their rising young stock in display with 128 Mark Atkins perhaps the pick of the bunch given his fantastic performances at the Norfolk Arena which were topped off witha runner up spot at the last meeting. 269 Martin French and 800 Romeo are always on the pace at the Norfolk Arena whilst 362 Matt Godden will be hoping he can transfer his Coventry form to Lynn.
Hopes with the promotion are in very capable hands indeed with 385 Roy Boy, 349 Allard, 572 Squirt, 673 Fendley and 791 Spud all short odds to land the title. All are great performers at Lynn in a variety of classes of Bangers and will be looking to win this inaugural event.
Some drivers with very limited experience will be hoping to make a big impact in the sport by sounding their arrival in this race. drivers such as 340 Wesley Freestone, 316 Shaun Haller, 136 Adrian Court and 382 Jack Foster Jnr may all be amongst the youngest on the grid but will be determined to shine well.
As well as the 25 and Unders there will also be a heat for the older drivers in action before everyone progresses to the King of the Fens final where 148 Ian "Shorty" Redden will be looking to continue his recent good run in big banger races by successfully defending the title he won last year. Other top stars include 85 James Ellis who will be looking to keep his momentum at the top of the points going whilst 160 Shane Winsor, 348 Sonny "Mushy" Sherwood, 119 Davey "Cruncher" Cox and 555 Sam Gelsthorpe will all be looking to keep the momentum they have shown in the big bangers continuing. Other names that people will be looking out for include the Stinkbridge trio of 451 Willie, 450 Glyn and 455 Ricky whilst 269 Dean French and 313 Cully have been in fantacstic form when they have raced at Lynn.
A computer problem has seen most of the 2L Banger entry lost. A 30+ entry of 2L bangers is expected to be in action though with 119 Cruncher, 7 Mr Humpty, 160 Winsor and 385 Roy Boy both having busy night as they race in both formulas. Amongst those looking to impress in the 2L Bangers are 361 Walden, 390 Gibson and 247 Bro.
The 2L Stock Cars have been spectacular in the extreme at Lynn in 2009 and another classic is in prospect with no less than 36 cars booked for battle . 511 Craig Barnett currently leads the track champoinship although 219 Luke Grief, 149 Jamie Sampson and 115 Scot Aldridge will all be doing their level best to reduce the deficit this Saturday!
